Teach Grant, a charity which helps teachers teach in the UK, has announced a $20,000 reward for teachers who make an educational contribution to Teach for America.
The money will go towards a range of grants to teach English as a second language (ESL) courses and online courses for teachers.
Teachers who take part in the ESL courses will receive up to $20k per course, with the amount depending on how well they have delivered a teaching performance.
Teacher Grant has previously given away $50,000 to teachers to help with ESL teaching.
Teach for America has been providing teaching resources for ESL courses since 2013 and has over 2.2 million members.
The charity said that teachers who take up the Teach Grant offer will receive a 10% discount on their next teaching package, with a maximum $10,000 scholarship awarded to teachers who are successful in their teaching.
The full list of teaching grant recipients can be found on the Teach Grants page of Teach for Americans website.
Teaches will receive an online teaching package including the required materials, a teacher certification and a training plan to help teach in ESL courses, according to the charity.
Teachers will also receive a training grant to take part online courses that teach the skills needed to teach in English as an additional language (EEA) classes.
Teaching grants for teachers to teach ESL courses for Teach for American have been on offer since 2013, but the charity has increased its offer this year, and is now offering teachers the opportunity to receive up, $5,000 and up to a further $20.
Teacup, a US-based company that provides teaching materials for ESL and EEA courses, has been offering teaching grants to teachers since 2011.
The company said that teaching grants are offered as part of the education provider’s package of financial support.
Teresa and her husband, Brian, said:”I’ve taught English as second language for many years now, and have always felt that teachers needed help with the challenges of teaching English as their first language.
I’m thrilled to be able to give back to the community through the Teach for Americas Teaching Grants, and hope that Teach for Amerika will continue to support teachers and their communities.”
We are grateful to have received such an incredible gift from the world’s largest teaching organisation.
